The particular choice of treatment depends on the factor or the cause of infertility which is revealed by the appropriate examinations. Independent of the type of treatment chosen, all have something in common: the ability to help nature, to prepare the ovum and the spermatozoids to increase the probabilities of fusion and fertilization in order to form an embryo and eventually, produce a normal pregnancy in the womb. This is why the aforementioned methods are known as (ART) Assisted Reproduction Technologies.Assessment of the causes of infertility
In most cases, the possible cause of infertility can be determined through studies carried out by the family doctor or by a specialized clinic. It impossible to determine the causes of infertility in only about 20% of cases and even in those cases, treatment can be successful. In around 40% of cases infertility in a couple is attributable to the woman and in the other 40% to the man.
